Last updated: June 5, 2025

Your privacy matters. This policy explains exactly what data BMIHero collects, how it's used, and your rights.

1. Overview

BMIHero ("we", "us", "our") operates the website at bmihero.xyz. We are committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy describes what data we collect, why we collect it, and how we use it.

By using BMIHero, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.

Key Fact: We Don't Collect Your Health Data

All BMI calculations (your height, weight, and results) are processed entirely in your browser. This data is never sent to our servers, stored, or shared with anyone.

2. Information We Collect

2a. Information You Do NOT Provide to Us

The following information stays entirely on your device:

  • Your height and weight inputs
  • Your BMI result
  • Any health category information

2b. Information Collected Automatically

When you visit BMIHero, our hosting provider may automatically collect standard server log data, which may include:

  • Your IP address (anonymized or truncated)
  • Browser type and version
  • Pages visited and time spent
  • Referring website URL
  • Date and time of visit

This data is used solely for security monitoring and aggregate analytics. It is not linked to any personally identifiable information.

3. Cookies and Local Storage

BMIHero uses local storage (not cookies) solely to remember your dark/light theme preference. This data:

  • Is stored only on your device
  • Is never transmitted to our servers
  • Can be cleared at any time by clearing your browser data

We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or third-party analytics cookies.

4. Third-Party Services

BMIHero uses the following third-party services that may collect data according to their own privacy policies:

  • Google Fonts — used to load the Inter typeface. Google may log your IP address when fonts are requested. See Google's Privacy Policy.
  • Hosting Provider — our hosting infrastructure may process standard web server logs as described in Section 2b.

We do not use Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or any advertising networks.

5. How We Use Your Information

The limited server log data we receive is used exclusively to:

  • Maintain the security and integrity of our service
  • Monitor for abuse and unauthorized access
  • Understand aggregate, anonymized usage patterns
  • Improve site performance and reliability

We do not sell, rent, or share this data with any third parties for marketing purposes.

6. Data Retention

Server log data is retained for a maximum of 30 days for security purposes, after which it is automatically deleted. We do not maintain any database of user profiles or health records.

7. Children's Privacy

BMIHero is intended for use by all ages, including parents using our child BMI calculator on behalf of their children. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us immediately.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights:

  • GDPR (EU/EEA users): Right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, and data portability
  • CCPA (California residents): Right to know, right to delete, and right to opt out of the sale of personal information (we don't sell data)
  • All users: Right to clear local storage data at any time via your browser settings

To exercise any rights, please contact us.

9. Security

We take appropriate technical measures to protect against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction of data. Our website is served over HTTPS. Since health calculation data never leaves your browser, the primary security risk is at the browser level, not the server level.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of BMIHero after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

11. Contact
